
VITA 2026 Program

Ponce Branch
The VITA program offers tax filing help for low- and middle-income employees and retirees (annual income under $78,000). In addition, the VITA program assists persons in the community who qualify for the federal child tax credit. Caribe Federal sponsors this program in collaboration with the Internal Revenue Service, college students from the University of Puerto Rico Ponce Campus and volunteer tax professionals.
The service will be by appointment or walk-in from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Fridays and 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturdays. beginning on Friday, February 20th, 2025. For appointments, please call 787-474-5151 ext. 5432 or send an email to vita@caribefederal.com
Required documents for tax filing:
Federal Employees
- Photo Identification (taxpayer and spouse)
- Social Security Cards (of all those listed on the form)
- Forms W-2 (and informative returns of any other form of income: interest, dividends, etc.)
- Bank and Routing Numbers of an account for direct deposit or to pay any outstanding balance
- Copy of local Tax Return (to calculate the Foreign Tax Credit)
- Federal Tax Return from the previous year
Pensioner
- Photo Identification (taxpayer and spouse)
- Social Security Cards (of all those listed on the form)
- Form 1099-R: Pension Income
- Form SSA-1099: Social Security Benefits (if applicable)
- Federal Tax Return from the previous year
Federal Child Tax Credit (Residents of Puerto Rico)
- Photo Identification (taxpayer and spouse)
- Social Security Cards (of all those listed on the form)
- Forms W-2(PR)
Self-employed
- Photo Identification (taxpayer and spouse)
- Social Security Cards (of all those listed on the form)
